Add or Edit an Adjustment Transaction Type
The Adjustment Transaction Type page allows authorized users to add or maintain their adjustment transaction types. Adjustment Transaction Types provides the ability to define and categorize corrections to payment, billing, and customer balances.
The system will require an adjustment whenever a change needs to be made to an MB invoice, a customer payment, or a refund. Create the types of adjustments that will be made during the adjustment process to define a customer balance.
Note: If while updating an adjustment transaction type you need to clear your changes, click Reset at any time to return to the previous state the page was in before you save your changes.
- Go to Maintenance > Financial Management > Miscellaneous Billing > Adjustment Types.
- On the Adjustment Transaction Type List page, click New or the Adjustment Type Code hyperlink in the list to open an existing record.
- In Code, type a code that identifies the adjustment transaction type. The code must be unique. The maximum character length is 16; the minimum is 1.
- In Description, type a textual description of the adjustment transaction type. The maximum character length is 32; the minimum is 1.
- In Balance Type, select the classification of the adjustment transaction type (e.g., Billing, Payment, or Prepayment). The default is Billing. It cannot be changed if any adjustment history (Edit or Posted) exists for the code.
- Billing – Adjustment affects the MB billing amount.
- Payment – Adjustment affects the payment amount for the customer.
- Pre-Payment – Adjustment used when an overpayment/prepayment has occurred.
